The Tow of Aurora York Region

The town of Aurora is unique in York Region, and the ideal setting for Stirling Cook’s new development, Bloomington Heights. Transportation In Aurora

On the eastern border of Aurora is Highway 404, which connects with Highway 401, and provides access to downtown Toronto in less than thirty minutes via the Don Valley Parkway. Highway 400 sits just fifteen minutes west of the town, and offers a fast connection to central and western Toronto. History Highway 11 (Yonge Street) provides an excellent connection to York Region’s major municipalities.

Aurora also enjoys a robust public transit system. The GO-bus system connects Aurora with the other communities in York Region and with Toronto’s TTC system. York Region’s new Viva system serves as an excellent connection to the other communities of York Region.


Shopping in Aurora

The heart of Aurora is downtown at the crossroads of Wellington and Yonge Streets. A variety of boutiques, shops, specialized services, offices, and restaurants are uniquely situated within an environment of traditional 19th century buildings. There are also a number of larger commercial shopping centres located throughout the city, most situated along the Yonge, Bayview and Wellington Street Corridors.

Education in Aurora York Region

The town of Aurora offers a full compliment of educational institutions. The Bloomington Heights development is located exceptionally close to Aurora High School and Cardinal Carter Catholic Secondary School, as well as a number of York Region and Catholic elementary schools. The town is also serviced by French Immersion elementary and secondary schools. Aurora is also home to one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious all boys’ boarding schools, St. Andrews College. In the nearby township of King is the Country Day School, a well-ranked private co-educational preparatory school.


Leisure and Golfing

Aurora’s scenic location and peaceful setting make it the ideal place for a wide number of country clubs and golf courses. Just minutes from the development is the Beacon Hall Gold and Country Club. The course was opened 1988 and is considering among the top 10 in Canada. Also in Aurora is the St. Andrews Valley Golf Course, which is slightly larger than Beacon Hall, and offers at least five different tee decks on each hole so that the course is suitable for every skill level of golfer.

The town of Aurora is linked with an extensive system of picturesque pedestrian trails. At present, the town maintains roughly 25 kilometres of trail for the enjoyment of its residents. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon with your family by taking a stroll through one of its many stunning routes. The nearby Sheppard’s Bush Park and trail system is a mix of mature oak, walnut, and maple trees as well as open path.

The recently built Aurora Sports Dome, just north of the development, is a mecca of sporting-related youth activities run by the Town of Aurora. The town runs youth teams for soccer, baseball, and hockey among others. In the summer, the town also runs a number youth camps.
